Morality can be better (much better) described though memetics and not genetics. May be there's a little influence of genetics in the earlt stages were there, but, mainly what we call morality today, is mostly developed in last few hundred years. Some grist for your mill might be found at the web site of Herbert Gintis, link above, a very famous social scientist who has been writing about the evolution of cooperation etc..
